BFF Financial Services Get started

BFF Financial Services, Melbourne east

20+ years car and asset finance

Independent, local & trusted

BFF Financial Services is Lucas Whiffin. Since 2004 he has arranged car finance, most of it as the accredited business manager inside dealerships. He still does that job. He also does it independently, which means the same experience works for the buyer instead of for the yard.

01 / What he arranges

Cars first. Everything else because clients ask.

BFF Financial Services Pty Ltd holds three registered business names. The weighting between them is not even, and pretending otherwise would be the first dishonest thing on this page.

01

Cars, and mostly new ones

This is the core of the business, not a service line on a list. Late model and new vehicles, consumer and commercial, dealer or private sale. It is the corner Lucas has worked in since 2004 and the one he actually wants the phone to ring about.

02

Trucks, machinery and equipment

Asset lending is real work here rather than a claim. Trucks come up regularly and machinery has come up over the years. It is a smaller part of the book than cars, deliberately, because a big asset approval can sit waiting a long time before it settles.

Commercial and consumer

03

Home loans and refinancing

First home, next home, an investment, or checking whether a loan written three years ago still stacks up against a market that has moved since. Available, and held under their own registered names, but not what BFF leads with.

02 / The specialism

He has sat in the chair that sells you the finance.

Most brokers tell you the dealership finance desk is not your only option. Lucas has been the dealership finance desk. Accredited business manager at Holden, at Mitsubishi, at a Ringwood dealership today, and before that arranging funds for buyers at Pickles ahead of auction day. He knows how that room works because he has run it.

  • The rate is the part you are shownThe term, the fees, the balloon and the early payout conditions decide what you actually hand over. They are rarely the numbers on the desk in front of you.
  • Insurance is sold at the same deskWarranty, gap and protection products are presented in the same conversation as the loan. Lucas spent years accredited to sell them, which is exactly why he can tell you which ones are worth it.
  • It is arranged at your weakest momentFinance gets signed when you have already chosen the car and want the keys. That timing is not an accident. A second number, from someone with no stake in the sale, costs one phone call.

No rates, comparison rates or savings figures appear on this page. BFF has not published any, and a made up number on a credit page is not a design choice.

Illustrative only. The bars and the line carry no data, because none has been published.

03 / Who this is for

Worth being clear about, both ways.

A broker who says yes to everyone is telling you nothing. This is the work BFF wants and the work it does not.

01

Self employed, and the paperwork is behind

The tradie whose books are a year out of date but whose business is perfectly sound. That is the client Lucas most wants, because the job is holding someone through an approval rather than pushing a form at them.

02

People who come back

A lot of this book is clients who have simply rung the same number for years. They are not chasing the sharpest rate on the market and they know it. They stay because the call gets answered and the deal gets done.

Repeat clients
The bulk of the workA young family loading their new SUV on a dealership forecourt

03

Not a rate shopping service

If the plan is to collect quotes from nine brokers and take the cheapest by a tenth of a percent, BFF is the wrong call and will say so early. Nothing here is built to win a race to the bottom.

04 / The record

Twenty two years, and none of it hidden.

There are a lot of finance brands online that are twelve months old and buying their enquiries wholesale. The straightforward answer to that is a career anyone can check, so here it is in full, taken from the national business register and from Lucas's own professional profile.

BFF Financial Services Pty Ltd is the current structure and dates from April 2020. The work behind it does not.

05 / Still to confirm

The empty slots are the agenda.

Placeholder, not invented

The list is a lot shorter than it was.

The career above is now on the record and checkable. What remains below is not, and credit is regulated, so every one of these stays blank until BFF supplies it.

  • The Australian Credit Licence or credit representative number, and the licensee behind it. Nothing goes live without this one
  • The lender panel BFF writes to today, and how many lenders sit on it. The dealership accreditations above belong to those dealerships, not to BFF
  • Whether the client pays a fee, or the lender pays on settlement, or both
  • Any rate, comparison rate, repayment or balloon figure
  • Typical approval and settlement timeframes
  • A business phone number and email, kept separate from a personal mobile
  • Real reviews, and a Google Business listing to collect them on
  • Whether BFF meets clients at the Ringwood dealership, and whether that dealership is happy to be named here

06 / Questions

Answered without making anything up.

Since 2004, without a break. Car broking at RACV and Car Search Brokers, funding auction buyers at Pickles, then accredited business manager inside Holden, Mitsubishi and a Ringwood dealership. BFF Financial Services Pty Ltd is the company structure and dates from April 2020, which is why the register makes the business look younger than the person running it.

Yes, and it is better said than discovered. Lucas works as a business manager at a Ringwood dealership on contract alongside running BFF. That is where the knowledge of how a finance room operates comes from. Which dealership, and whether BFF clients can be met there, is being confirmed before it is named on this page.

Nobody can promise that on a web page without seeing the loan, and no rates appear here at all. What can be said is that the comparison is being made by someone who has written finance from inside the dealership, so the question being asked of the deal is an informed one.

No figure is shown. Brokers are commonly paid by the lender on settlement and some also charge the client. BFF has not published its position, so nothing has been assumed here. It is one of the first things to settle before this page goes live.

Not listed, because BFF has never published a panel. The accreditations in the career record above, Macquarie Leasing, Bank of Melbourne, Swann and Allianz, were held through the dealerships Lucas worked for. Carrying them over as BFF's own panel would be inventing a commercial relationship, so the section stays empty until the real list is supplied.

Arranging credit in Australia is regulated and a live site carries the credit licence or credit representative number. BFF's is not published anywhere public, so it has been left out rather than guessed. This is the single item that has to be answered before anything here goes live.

Yes. Truck finance comes up regularly and machinery has been arranged over the years, for both commercial and consumer clients. It is a smaller part of the business than cars by choice, because large asset approvals can sit a long while before they settle.

There are none anywhere public to quote. BFF has no Google Business listing yet, so there is nothing to show. Writing testimonials would be inventing customers, and that is the one thing a finance page must never do. Setting the listing up and collecting real reviews is a first job once a direction is picked.
