Dirtcon Pty Ltd · Smiths Gully, Victoria

It starts at the side gate
and ends at the basement.

Dirtcon do the excavation where the access is the hard part. A 1.7 tonne machine through a gate, a 5 tonne cut across a subdivision, and the retention that holds a deep dig open while the structure goes in.

The descent

Five stages, in the order a site happens.

Not a list of services. The sequence a job actually runs in, from the first machine through the gate to the surface it is left at.

0m Surface

Getting in at all.

Most residential jobs are won or lost at the side gate. The fleet runs down to a 1.7 tonne excavator so the machine gets to the work instead of the work coming to the machine.

Tight access excavation

An excavator working close beside a house on rocky ground
2m Cut

Taking the ground out.

Site cuts, trenching and bulk excavation for subdivisions, commercial developments and civil works. Depth, ground conditions and where the spoil goes are what set the job.

Bulk excavation

A deep excavation in orange clay with a mature tree left standing
6m Retain

Holding it back.

Basement retention packages, so the ground around a deep dig stays where it is while the structure goes in. This is the work the fleet is really built around.

Basement retention packages

A basement excavation with shotcrete walls, soldier piles and timber lagging
On site Crush

Keeping it on site.

Concrete, brick and rock crushed where they came out and reused on the same job. Fewer truck movements, less carted away, and material you have already paid for stays put.

On site crushing

A Dirtcon excavator working through a demolition
0m Finish

Leaving it level.

Grading, compaction and drainage for arenas, sports fields, hardstand, shed pads and building platforms. The part everybody actually sees.

Arena and site preparation

Rock placement and paving on a finished landscape site

Also on the books. Site cuts, Trenching, Retaining walls, Bored piers, Demolition.

Sites

Eight real ones.

Described by what is in the frame. Nothing here is dressed up as a named client project, because no project on Dirtcon’s own published material is named.

How it works

Four steps.

  1. 1

    You describe the site

Where it is, what the access looks like and roughly what has to come out. A photo from your phone usually says more than a paragraph.

  2. 2

Jimmy works out the real problem

Access, depth, ground conditions and where the spoil goes. That is what actually sets the job, not the square metres.

  3. 3

    You get a real figure

A free quote with no obligation. Dirtcon publish a reply inside 24 hours of an enquiry.

  4. 4

Nothing moves until you say so

The dates get set with you, and the machine that turns up is the one the job needs.

How a site is run

Site specific SWMS

A safe work method statement written for the job, not a template carried between sites.

Daily pre starts

Machines and site checked at the start of every day before anything moves.

EPA Victoria practice

Erosion control, sediment management and waste kept to what the site actually needs.

WorkSafe Victoria and AS or NZS

Work carried out to the Australian standards that apply to the job.

Questions

Answered straight.

What does a job cost?

Dirtcon do not publish prices, and a page that guesses at one is no use to you. Access, depth, ground conditions and where the spoil goes are what set the number. Send a few details and you get a real figure.

Can you get into a tight backyard?

Usually yes. The fleet runs down to a 1.7 tonne excavator, which fits through a standard side gate, and tight access is one of the five things Dirtcon actually specialise in.

Which suburbs do you work in?

Melbourne and Victoria wide, run out of Smiths Gully in the Nillumbik shire. Recent work has been at Balwyn North, Canterbury, Diamond Creek, Doreen and Eltham.

What happens to the material you dig out?

Where it makes sense it does not leave. Concrete, brick and rock get crushed on site and reused, which cuts truck movements and keeps material you have already paid for on the job.

How quickly do you reply?

Dirtcon publish a reply within 24 hours of an enquiry. Start dates depend on what is already booked, so it is worth asking early.

Are you insured and what certificates do you hold?

Ask Jimmy and the current documents get sent through. Nothing about insurance or certification is stated on this page, because a certificate is worth more to you than a claim.

About reviews

There is no Google Business Profile for Dirtcon yet, so there is nowhere a review could sit where you could go and check it yourself. Rather than fill this space with wording nobody wrote, it says so. The work is on Instagram at dirtcon.au.

Contact

Tell Jimmy about the site.

The access, the depth and where the spoil goes. That is most of a quote.

Dirtcon

This is a concept, so nothing is sent anywhere. On the live site it goes straight to Jimmy.

About this concept. This is a design concept for Dirtcon, not a live website. The enquiry form, the hero questions and the chat are demonstrations and are not connected to anything. No review, price, rating or certification is shown anywhere, because none could be verified. The business name, logo, phone number, email address, service list, plant list and photographs are real and were taken from Dirtcon’s own published material. Nothing on this page sends anywhere.
