Ringwood North · Framing since 2005

Some things only survive because somebody decided they would.

The guernsey in the cupboard. Your grandfather's service medals in a biscuit tin. The flowers from the wedding. We box frame them with the same conservation materials we use on work that hangs in national institutions, so that in forty years they still look like they did the day you handed them over.

Inside a box frame

Six layers you never see, and every one of them is the reason it lasts

Most people think a box frame is a deeper frame. It is really a small sealed environment built around your object. Tap a layer to see what it does and why the cheap version skips it.

What we keep

If it matters to you, it can be framed

Twenty years of this and the honest answer has never changed. We can frame anything you have, at any size. These are simply the ones that come through the door most often.

01

Signed jerseys and guernseys

Pinned without a single new hole, mounted so the number sits flat and the sleeves hang the way they should.

02

Service medals and ordinance

Individual medals or a full set, mounted in order with the ribbons supported. Handled with the respect that a service record deserves.

03

Trophies, caps and mixed collections

Deep box frames built to hold several objects together in one considered layout, for the pool room or the office wall.

04

Wedding flowers and heirlooms

Dried flowers, a christening gown, a letter, a set of rosary beads. The pieces with no resale value and all of the meaning.

05

Found objects and antiquities

Stones, pottery, ancient coins. Mounted so they can be seen from the angle that makes them worth looking at.

06

Mirrors, framed to the room

Custom framed mirrors for a bathroom, an entry or a living room, finished to match the timber already in the space.

The shape of the work

What these pieces look like before they reach the bench

A dense wall of service medals and ribbons
Medal collections, mounted in order
Sporting medals and a trophy grouped together
Medals and a trophy, framed together
A shelf of trophies and racquets
A full cabinet, brought onto one wall

Reference images, shown to describe the kind of work rather than to claim it. On the live site these are replaced with photographs of pieces actually framed at Studio9Art.

How it works

Four steps, and only one of them needs you

  1. 01

Send a photo, or bring it in

A phone photo is usually enough for us to tell you what the job involves and roughly what it costs. If you would rather we came to you, we collect anywhere in Victoria for a small fee.

  2. 02

We work it out across the bench

Depth, mount, glazing and moulding, decided with the piece in front of us rather than from a catalogue. You see the timber and the matboard before anything is cut.

  3. 03

    It is built here

Cut, finished and assembled in the Ringwood North workshop. Nothing is sent out, and nothing is a standard size pulled off a shelf.

  4. 04

Hung, or delivered ready to hang

We can install it, put it on a Hangtrack rail so it can be moved later, or hand it over ready to go up.

Gift cards

For the person who has the thing but never framed it

Everybody has one. The photo in the drawer, the medal in the tin, the shirt that never came out of the bag. A gift card is the nudge, and it is redeemable against any framing we do.
